Description | This is an oral history interview with Mike Collins conducted as part of the Houston History Project. Mike Collins is one of the very old hands at archaeology here in Texas. His specialty is lithics technology and he has worked extensively in the Monte Verde and Gault sites. His contribution to the understanding of the hunter gatherers of the Texas Coastal plains has elevated those people from who were considered unworthy of study to be recognized as an inventive, creative and pragmatic people who derived sustenance from a very tricky environment that would have stymied the best dirt farmer. |
