Transcript lease, and new airline flight kitchens at Washington's new Dulles International Airport and Chicago. Several other exciting motor hotel and restaurant locations are under serious consideration and may be announced before the end of 1963. PROGRAMS AND PERSONNEL The maintenance of outstanding customer service is our primary Company objective, and our entire staff is keyed to this goal. Employee and management development represents a major Hot Shoppe function which contributes directly to this, and our activities in this area are being broadened and improved every year. Formal training programs are maintained for our employees and management personnel, and these programs, supplemented by careful recruiting and selection, have developed a strong management group capable of successfully maintaining our continuous expansion. We have further strengthened our executive management in 1962 with the addition of Mr. Robert E. Koehler, Vice President of Finance, and Harold H. Shaller, Brigadier General, U.S.A. (Ret.), Director of Operations, Airline Catering Division. Our Profit Sharing Plan has achieved excellent employee participation on a contributory basis in the two years of its existence, and we have recently organized a Quarter Century Club for the employees who have been with your Company for twenty-five years or more. We are pleased to report that our intensified efforts in customer and employee accident prevention have been most successful in the past two years in achieving a substantial reduction in the number of accidents and their associated hardships. This program has also effected substantial direct dollar savings. Our mechanized data processing program has also produced tangible benefits this year through the successful installation of an IBM 1401 computor. 35th ANNIVERSARY 1962 marks Hot Shoppes 35th year of providing food and service for the family, and it is with real satisfaction that we reflect on the growth and progress evidenced by your Company since 1927. (Our first small restaurant is contrasted on the back cover of this report to one of the 103 units in current operation.) Delicious food, reasonably priced and served in attractive surroundings, continues to be the foundation of our business, and we are constantly challenged to maintain these concepts in the face of rising labor and construction costs. From public restaurants, Hot Shoppes expanded its scope of operations to embrace cafeterias, airline in-flight feeding, industrial feeding, and institutional feeding; and in 1957 the first Marriott Motor Hotel was opened in Washington, D. C. This combination of prime site, attractive facilities, and excellent service when joined with Hot Shoppes food knowledge was an immediate success, and has since created for us a preferred position in a competitive industry. Our policy of expansion in all areas of our business will continue, and we are confident that the coming years will bring even greater opportunity and achievement.
