Transcript | Caribe Hilton ■ San Juan, Puerto Rico Food and Beverage Department Combined food and beverage sales show a decrease of approximately AM%, being $18,- 152,314 in 1949 as compared to $19,044,705 in 1948. Departmental profit has been maintained at satisfactory ratios, and in 1949 was $4,351,004, or 23.97%, as compared to $4,- 697,644, or 24.67%, in 1948. Minor Operating Departments The minor operating departments show a satisfactory increase in profit, being $828,470 in 1949 as compared to $792,770 in 1948. Other income, however, decreased $77,483. Operating Profit Total operating profit arising from the actual *£**T;* <*'' S operation of the hotels without reference to commercial rentals and before the deduction of such items as rent, taxes and insurance was satisfactory. In 1949 combined departmental revenues were $40,962,577 as compared to $42,009,733 in 1948, a decrease of $1,047,156, but operating profit increased to $10,606,354 as compared to $10,122,387 in the previous year. The rate of operating profit in 1949 was 25.8% as compared to 24.1% in the previous year. The production of higher profits on lower volume during the last year has not been achieved without continued application of those industrial methods in which Hilton Hotels Corporation has pioneered in the hotel industry. |
