Transcript | When General Motors decided to locate a new plant in Hudson, Ohio, the Area Development Committee held a welcoming banquet for GMC officials at the Sheraton Hotel in Akron. Among the 350 business officials attending were, from left, Thomas Ferns of the Equitable Life Assurance Company and chairman of the ADC; Cyrus Osborne, Executive Vice President of General Motors; the Honorable C. William O'Neill, Governor of Ohio; Congressman William H. Ayers and Douglass M. Boone, General Manager of the hotel. The incomparable Ethel Merman shares a laugh with General Manager Kurt Smith of the Sheraton-Park Hotel in Washington, D. C. Jimmy Durante makes the Sheraton-Astor his headquarters when he's in New Tork. Last year, he appeared at the hotel's annual Employes' Christmas Party. Among those enjoying the Sheraton-Carlton's 20th birthday party were, from left, Anthony J. Drexel Biddle of Philadelphia; Miss Mary-Stuart Montague Price, the hotel's Director of Public Relations and Sales, and Edmond A. Rieder, General Manager of this cosmopolitan hotel located 2 blocks from the White House. The Sheraton-Plaza's 20th birthday party was attended by Boston's leading civic and business figures. Here, from left, are Jack Brown, Boston's city greeter; H. de F. Nyboe, General Manager of the hotel; Mrs. Nyboe and Paul F. Clark, Chairman of the Board, John Hancock Mutual Life Insurance Company and a director of the Sheraton Corporation of America. 17 |
