Transcript Republican Party leaders made the Sheraton-Palace their headquarters during the GOP convention in San Francisco. National news services kept the Sheraton-Palace name in the headlines as they covered the many formal and informal meetings held there. Highlight, for the hotel, was a fashion show attended by Mrs. Eisenhower. Here, George Thomas Cullen, General Manager of the Sheraton-BUtmore, escorts Mrs. Eisenhower and Mrs. John Eisenhower into the hotel. Top Democratic Party leaders staying at the Chicago Sheraton- Blackstone included Adlai Stevenson, Pistes Kefauver and former President Truman. The tatter's press conferences, plus other news- making events, kept the Sheraton-Blackstone constantly in the public's eye. Here, General Manager Foster Gurney congratulates, Mr. Stevenson on his nomination. During the campaign, candidates frequently chose Sheraton Hotels. Here, General Manager Charles T. Carey of the Penn-Sheraton welcomes Vice President and Mrs. Richard Nixon. Election night was celebrated by the President and GOP officials at the Sheraton-Park Hotel in Washington. Hotel's staff worked from 6 a.m. through to 5 a.m. to prepare for, and meet, the demand for food and service. 16
