Transcript AIRLINE CATERING %) UNITED ra Servicing Eastern Jet at Dulles International Airport, Chantilly, Va. Hot Shoppes, Inc., was one of the pioneers of the Nation's Airline in-flight feeding industry—a field which it started by servicing Eastern and American Airlines flights out of Washington, D.C, with prepared meals in 1937. Today, Hot Shoppes' Airline Catering Division is one of the world's largest independent in-flight feeding operations. In keeping pace with the evolutionary trend in jet age air transportation, large, modern Hot Shoppes Flight Kitchens at major metropolitan airports from coast to coast prepare more than 30,000 meals per day—ranging from simple breakfasts and lunches, to elaborate multicourse Continental cuisine for overseas flights. The company's clients include in excess of 30 domestic and foreign flag airlines, and our original one-man airline catering staff now numbers more than 2,000 skilled employees. In addition, Hot Shoppes' Airline Catering Division also operates employee-feeding cafeterias and terminal lounges and restaurants for some of our major clients. The coming-of-age of the big jets has seen the Airline Catering Division construct seven large facilities at major airports across the country during the past five years. Recently, a new jet kitchen was opened at Chicago's O'Hare International Airport to serve American Airlines and Northwest Orient Airlines. And another new in-flight feeding operation was opened at Newark's Municipal Airport. Both of these jet kitchens replace technologically obsolescent facilities. The division's expansion and modernization program will be continued with the construction of a large in-flight feeding kitchen at Los Angeles International Airport, which will replace the existing facility. Consistent with the company's constant efforts to improve food preparation and food service methods, the Airline Catering Division also has its own test kitchen at Dulles International Airport. This test kitchen is utilized basically for a two-fold purpose—to experiment with new equipment and new food preparation methods before implementing them in our various flight kitchens, and to conduct menu testing for our airline clients.
