ON THE TOWN ...
PHILIP
Greetings Austin: So how ar: things
this week? I really thought we were
going to get some rain, but it just
passed us by. At least we got a bit of
cooler weather. Too bad it didn't last
very long.
This was the first weekend that I
didn't make it to Hippie Holiow. I had a
date with the washalena. Isn't that a
great word? Washateria. Much better
than laundramaL Anyway, I swear I was
there for fom hours. I am not proud that
I h:id to hire a U-Haul tratler to tote my
dirties to the washatcria, but 1t was a
m&JOr experience in my life. 111 never
let my latmdry pile up like that again.
(1 said that once back in 1982--look
where it got me.) That's enough about
my dirty laundry. I probably shouldn't
air 1t like this-but some girls iust have
no shame.
I trust everyone had a fcsuve Easter.
I did. The Brady Sl~ters were out all
Sunday afternoon sponmg their new
Easter bonnets. It took them only three
hours to complete their creat10ns, and
weren't they JUSt creations? Fresh floral
designs and everything. If you didn't
sec these sick creatures you were
probably lucky. After anendmg a
sumptuous brunch prepared by Jo} Ce
and Mells.<;a, the Brady sluts (did I say
lhal?) mana~ to make tt by the 505
m time for their Easter egg hunt and
hamburgercook-out. Weren't those
hamburgers absolutely delic10us? Yes
mdecdy! Kevin, you peed.
After the 505, the Brady girls cruised
over to SaU)'s Apartment for beer
busL Their feet were start.mg to ache
because their pumps were JUSI too 11ght,
so they shucked theu Easter costumes
and did boy-drag.
The gtrls stancd feeling preny at
Sally's and thought they were on their
way home, but made a shon pit-stop at
the Private Cellar for George's
fajita dtrtner. Quite tasty the girls told
me.
Weillll, the next thing you know,
lhese trolopps were at the Chain
Drive drinking margaritas! Needless to
say, they were home snug in !heir beds
by etght o'clock. I know, I saw the
whole lhing~
Here's the latest on the ~exus
'\augbtles. These grrls are wild!
Tuesday before last at Nexus, lhmgs just
started gctung a little out of hand when
not only the fom dancers, Ebony,
Roxanne, Sidney, and Ivory took
their clolhes off, but eight other girls,
mcluding Suzie lhetr manager, took
lhCU" clolhes off as wen' Sec how these
group things get started? Leave it to
Suzie I won't even mention that my
own neighbor, Allison, was one of lhc
girls from the audience who gave a free
show My Lord Of course Suzie was
fired. Again.
1lus past Easter Sunday the Nexus

About Town
by Russ Culver. Dallas
~kilo Dallas. Wasn't it a wonderful
weekend? The weather was definitely a
ta.'te of summer with a "real windy"
spnng bree1e. Along with Kim and
myself, the people were lying (Just
lying, nothing more), baking in the
sun. After the sun sat, they were out nnd
about for "a hllle night music", so read
on.
Starting off Friday night with a
bang. As most of you girls know,
.Juggs has 25 cent draft beer Tuesday
and Friday rughts. Peggy, the
manager, and her CO· workers ran
themselves ragged serving cocktails ton
packed house.
Thanks for a great time ladies.
Speaking of girls, Partners in Fort
Worth collected $175 for the Ronald
McDonald House by raffiing off a 6·foot
rabbit (now could you imagine going to
bed with a 6 foot rabbit?). Keep up the
good work.
The heat was hot this past weekend
and OJ Buck at Big Daddy's was JUS!
as hot cranking out the tunes. Also,
look for Buck's music column in this
issue.
The Blue Miil has been having
record crowds thanks to the wonderful
food and service.
Dale and Travis are there to greet you
and are hard at work
Also, Slop by and WISh
Chelli a happy return.
For you guys that like to get down
and party, Tramps has beer bust
Mondays and Thursdays from 8PM to
midnight. Stop in for a beer or two, or
three-
For you gals, saddle up and head out
to High Country to celebrate their

Also on Sundays. the Hideaway

have been a smashing success. A
special thanks to Chuck for a special
birthday party for Willie Monday night
(n night that will not be forgotten).
Speaking of smashing successes
over at O•·atlons Cabaret, Ste>e
and Dave have done a fantastic
job. Fre.sh flower arrangemenL<, soft
relaxing colors and an array of
entertamment provides the perfect
atmosphere for a perfect evening. Stop
by Ovations and catch the Ricky
Graham Show, not to be mis:;.ed,
April 23-26th.
A very special thanks to Tony
Rose for his unforgettable show at Dig
Daddy's. Tony's gone back east now,
but he'll be back in September with a
new show. We'll be waitinl(.
For those of you who are up and
about on Sundays, stop by Griggs
Field and catch a softball game,
starting around l:OOPM. The
Tramp-a-Leans will be cherleading
the teams, so go out and support your
favorite team.
About strpports, the Trestle had
their Best/Biggest Basket Contest last
Saturday with a $25.00 cash pnzc. I
remember everything's bigger in Texas,
but the.sc baskets were bigger than even
a Texas Euwr Bunny could ever bring.
T he Bratz were at Rumors last
Saturday and the place was packed. A
special thanks to Judy and :\tl~ty for
a comfortable welcome. Can't wait to
see what these ladies are up to next.
Don't forget the Monday Night
Jockey Short Contest at the
Village Station. Alberta will be
there to greet you at the door with a
smile and gladly take your money to see
the contestants undress.
The summer's here and the parties
ha\'e begun. the Hub Apartments held
a party "'1th free beer and food, and
L) nn, the manager, was there "'ith her
Wheel of Fortune. (They tned to get
Varma. but she was busy featuring
hngcne.)
Another party a block over at
Woodtrall ,\partments had bodies
tanmng everywhere. Free beer and food
hve DJ, and water volleyball provided
lots of fun for everyone Thanks Rae) .
Also, Doui:las Park .\ partmenl' arc
1U1dergomg a facelift. Stop by and
check it out
Since the days are longer and getting
honer, stop by Grann) 's Gin Shop
m Fort Worth, next door to 6.51, and
get a soda pop. On Sundays and
Mondays all money in the machine will
be donated to AIDS research. Wet your
whistle and support AIDS research al th<
same tune.
Until next week, keep your spirits
high, your smiles wide, and spread a
linle love to your friends and neighbors.
Ciao',

Evening Ladies! I
Sassy
Saundra
Clarke
I hope everyone had a terrific Easter, and
lhal !he Eastcr B=y was good lO you.
He was 10 me. I got a i:reat bl&
basket full of goodies. (I love big
baskets full of goodies, don't you?) I
gol a great big basket filled with
Jewelry from a very dear old boyfriend
from San Antonio. Yes, ladies, he does
have a big basket. Uh huh. He gave
me a big ring covered in diamonds (and
not !he liltle wonder.mount kind. You
know.you have 10 wonder where !he
diamonds arc). He also gave me a
gorgeous one ounce drop of gold form}
chain. And if !hat wasn't enough- (!here
can never be enough JCwclry for Saundra)
he also gave me a gold bracelet. It's
beautiful. You won't sec me al Splash
Day, !hough. I'm scared lo gel on a
boat. If my weight won't slllk a boat.
my new jewelry will! And besides, I am
dark enough anyway, right? Ladies,
always go for the gold m anything or
anyone you do. Be left with
memoncs-always get jewelry. Then. 1f
you break-up, you can sen it or hock it.
Until later,
Love. Saundra

The songs mentioned here are my
choice new records of the week. I hope
these reviews make you curious and
interested enough to go out to your
favorite dance music store and give
them a listen. Hope you enjoy them as
much as myself.
'Twilight World'-by Swing Out
Sister-If you 've been following this
class "a" act as I have, then you know
that they have hit #4 to add to their fast
growing string of 12"s. In less than 2
years, Swing Out Sister has made a
major impact on jazzy, well polished,
dance music at its best. Their first 12",
'Blue Mood', quickly became a huge
hit here in Dallas, followed by the
funky flavored 'Break Out", to their a~t
hit 'Surrender·, which has got to be-0ne
of the best songs this year. 'Twilight
World' has a flow to it that only SOS
can do. The intro of voices and
background sounds gets your attention
and takes you on a beautiful journey of
'87 jazz sound that you just want more
and more. If you liked their 3 12"s
before, there will be a re-mix of this OU•
very soon (possibly while you're read in~
this). This group is not to be
overlooked. They're going to be very
big in the changing style of dance
music. An album should follow soon.
Big Daddy's
Gaibi-Ofra Haza-coming from Israel,
this Israeli love song is a sizzling sleaze
cut and is definately an attention
grabber. A nice long intro of
percussions of all types give you a look
at how musically gifted this woman is.
And when she does start to sing/chant,
a sexy voice of absolutely no english
but all Jewish singing shows what a
talent this woman is. The song is a
great change of pace from your typical
sleaze and daily disco pounding. Not
everyone will enjoy this song, but for
those who do, check out her l.p ..
Everything I Own-Boy George-tly
the sounds of Boy's voice on this
remake of the old Bread classic, you'd
never know that he's been majorly
traumatized over the last year or so. At
the sudden drop of beat #1 into a hard
yet slower rhythm of funk to his first
few lines delivered loudly in a spoken
song /poem type rap, the song gets
underway changing to a nice, laid back
, tasteful piece of reggae-very much
like B.G. did a few years ago on his own
while still with Culture Club. Making
this 12" one better is the dub-version,
as good as the vocal. You'll enjoy it
even more when the radio, t.v. video&:
cable channels, bars and more arc
playing it, more than alot. Should be a
big all around hit for the boy.
