Labor Day Weekend is past
and 11 hat a day is has been. I
krl<l\\ it should bE: weekend, but
it a II ran together and really
seems like one helluva day!
New Orleans way the bars
were packed and the Bourbon Pub
was full of holiday merriment as
usual. The Pub and Parade can
always be counted on to be the
place to be in New Orleans.
San Antonio's Sagittarius was
packed for the Miss Gay Southwest
Texas Pageant. I understand
it was really quite a show!
And for Houston - the Mr. Gay
America Pageant played to a capacity
crowd at the Depository,
with one of the hottest shows!
The Locker was full with a lot of
fresh "talent" from out of town
· and as usual was packed. And
the all night bookstores over the
weekend (Action, Studz, and After
Dark) well - it couldn't have
been more fun working in a meat
packing plant.
Next week we'll have a special
on the upcoming Carnival at Houston's
Locker. That big day is
September 23rd and should really
be an event not to miss!

On His Way Up
To hear Pasquaie once is to
know you've heard a superstar
in the making. Night after night
crowds flock to the Holiday Inn
in Mexico City's Zona Rosa to
catch Pasquale's performance.
When he appears on stage, the
lights go down and an expectant
hush falls over the audience.
When he begins to sing, the audience
is his - - completely.
Pasquale is on his way up!
The Nacional Hoteleria discovered
Pasquale in his native
Italy. They whisked him back
to Mexico where he was, literally,
an overnight success. He can
belt out an up tune in Spanish,

RHODA BLABLITT 0
Well, gang, (here's that old
line again) Rhoda's back one more
time.
I know some dirt is over a week
old, but still note worthy just the
same. Such as our editor getting
knocked out at Sally's on a Monday
afternoon and winding up in New
Orleans for cocktails shortly
there after. Seems Ms. Terry West
really knows how to mix (if that's
the right term) a drink!
And speaking of Sally's, this
past weekend there was one! I
hope I'm able to put half of it into
words for you. It seems that to
celebrate the holiday, Sunday was
costume day for employees. Nunns
on roller skates - really! Shades
of Tiffany Jones.
E. D. Lloyd informs us that
there will soon be a Torchey Lane
look alike contest in Houston. It
seems that everyone who enters
wins!!!!!
And for you Hot Springs readers,
well, TWla Starr was in Big H for
the Mr. America Pageant. It was
nice to see the "old" girl let her
hair down' and really get with it. It
seems that the Houston audiences
have really taken a liking to this
hot entertainer. It seems that a
certain shade of lipstick was appearing
on certain bodies back
stage, and they weren't drags!
I tried to get an explanation from

Tuna, but she knows it's rude to
talk with her mouth full.
Dr. Frank Steiger and Lee
Harper, both of Ah Men fame,
gave one of their "famous" cocktail
parties Sunday afternnon and
the majority of the Mr. America
contestants and judges attended.
One of the star attractions of the
party was former Mr. David, C. J.
Harrington who should receive an
Oscar for his starring role in
Journey to the Center of the Earth.
It wasn't exactly about the earth,
but it was about a trip going down
deep!!!!!!
Ti! next time, don't let your
meat loaf.

N. Y. NEWS RUNS
POLL ON COURT'S
RULING ON GAYS
In a recent poll run by the New
York Daily News, it was disclosed
that more than half of the
metropolitan area residents
disagreed with the .Supreme Court's
recent decision that a state may
outlaw homosexual acts.
About two thirds of those
interviewed said they thought that
homosexuals should be accepted in
society and treated the same as
anyone else.
The Suireme Court, in a brief
order on March 29, upheld a
Virginia law providing up to five
years in prison and a fine up to
$1,000 for persons convicted of
homosexuals activities.
The Daily News Opinion Pon
asked New Yorkers on April 19,20
and 21 what they thought of the
court's ruling. The poll was
arandom telephone sampling of 535
persons 18 or older in NYC,
northern New Jersey, Westchester,
Rockland, Nassau and Suffolk
Counties.
The question was: "Do you agree
oc disagree with the recent Suireme
Cour_t ruling on Gays?"
The response was: Agree - 18%.
Disagree - 58%. ' Don't Know -
42%.
Agreeing with the decision· were
21% of the Catholics polled, 15% of
the Jewish polled, and 14% of the
Protestants. ·
Another question was: "Do you
think that homosexuals should be
accepted in society and treated the
same as anyone else?"
The replies were: Yes - 63%. No
- 21%. Don't Know -16%.
Another question was: "Do you
think homosexuals are treated fairly
in America today?"
The answers were: Yes - 36%.
No - 38%. Don't Know - 26%.
Protestants gave a slightly higher
percentage of affirmative answers to
the last question than did Catholics.
Comments from respondents
reflected a wide.;range. of 01'inions.
Some interviewed said gays were
"sick" and should be treated.
Others said gays should be left alone
to lead their own lives. A few said
that gays should be accepted in
sxiety but ,:hould not be allowed
to teach scho,:,l.
