Austin-GALA Promotes Communication One of Austin's big problems has been a lack of communication among gay organizations and businesses. Austin-GALA, the Austin Gay and Lesbian Alliance, is an information'sharing network for Austin's gay groups. Recent Austin-GALA meetings have been convened by Lynn Aday at the CJT Texas Union. This "organization of organizations" meets a real need — giving gay groups an opportunity to share their plans with one another. Holding the meetings at a "neutral" location such as the UT (Jnion is another key to the group's success. Austin-GALA is a city-wide clearinghouse for information. The group is open to any gay-oriented groups, bars and businesses. although Austin Lambda. ALGPC, CONNECTIONS. Gay Community Services. Hot Lips and Law Students for Human Rights are the main organizations who have sent representatives. The May 12 meeting of Austin-GALA revealed that Austin-GALAs hopes for involving gay businesses in a townwide gay pride celebration at Duncan Park were not to be fulfilled. Instead, Austin Lambda and Law Students for Human Rights representatives reported on their respective groups' plans for gay pride observances. Austin-GALA gives representatives of businesses and organizations a regular opportunity to compare notes and coordinate plans. It has already improved com munication between several groups. CONNECTIONS salutes Lynn Aday for facilitating this process. One person can make a difference. Thanks. Lynn! ?828 RIO GRANDE/AUSTIN 478 0224 ENTRANCE IN REAR Monday Friday Free Beer, 10pm TGIF Party, 7-1 Opm Tuesday $1 Beer Bust and Band Rock 'n' Roll Night Alvin's Aartvarks Wednesday Saturday Bare Chest Night and Bloody Mary Special Pool Tournament, 9pm Noon - 4pm Thursday Sunday Movie Night, 10pm Bloody Mary Special I Another Thriller plus Noon-4pm Plus Captain Marvel Serial and $1 Beer Bust and | Betty Boop cartoon Cookout, 4-8pm
