Transcript ff WHO: Dale WHAT: Birthday WHEN: December 31, 1986 WHERE: Everywhere There are birthdays, and then there ARE birthdays One only has one lirst thirty-ninth (or ten twenty-ninth, as some people would like to call it) and only one could celebrate it like Dale. Dale, Austin's very own bird of perpetual migration, has celebrated his lor two weeks (or is it three) with a nonstop jet-setting odessy that has spanned the entire North American continent, logging thousands of air miles and leaving even the most seasoned reveler breathless. hirst stop on his agenda was a day of skiing at his family's eondo located in Aspen. Next day it was good-bye to the snow and hello to the sun at La Jolla, California and a reception held in his honor by his aunt. Final stop on the west coast was an elegant cocktail party co-hosted by his friends., Phillip and Trooper Tom. The sparkling lights of this romantic city provided a spectacular backdrop from the Top of the Mark. A superb buffet included caviar and pate and what seemed like gallons of champagne. The longest trek of this space-age saga came less than a day later with a trip to Raleigh/Durham, North Caro lina and an old-fashioned beer bust held by several friends, including Dr. Dan. People in North Carolina really do know how to throw a party. I will tell you. The scenario included scantily clad bodies dancing until way past dawn. Final stop (whew) was returning home to Austin. Thank goodness, as the airlines lost all luggage. This fantastic excursion culminated with a carefully-selected invitation list {minus this author) for drinks and dinner at The Oasis, followed with a limo until the wee hours. Everyone is truly glad that Dale's birthday only comes once a year. It will take everyone a full year just to recover. WHO: Ray and Zach WHAT: Vacation WHEN: January 17-25, 1987 WHERE: Vail, Colorado Ray, the popular bar manager of Uncle Charlie's, and his friend, Zach, spent their vacation at beautiful Vail. Highlights of their trip included The Bubble Hot Tubs with bubbling hot water and bubbling champagne. Ray, always in search of the perfect margarita, had four, and due to the altitude was tipsy-tipsy, and had one heck of a time getting Zach out ofThe Bridge .Street Shuffle, a young bar to say the least.
