Transcript CONNECTIONS' !11 Comic Robin Tyler performed to a three-quarters capacity crowd in Hogg Auditorium on October 4. Her appearance was sponsored by several Austin organizations, including Gay Community Services. 2724 CLUB A little piece of San Francisco has appeared in Austin with the coming of the 2724 Club. This is a private club (membership: $2 per year) which is offering its members the finest in gay male pornography. Owner Gene Saxon is showing six hours of first- rate gay films each night on the club's video player. The tapes usually start with several ten-minute Colt shorts. These are followed by features of such caliber as L.A. Tool and Die, El Paso Wrecking Company, Wet Shorts, and Hot Trucking. Gene has a virtually un- limited source of tapes. The movies change every Tuesday and the above titles are the November play- list. L.A. Tool and Die is Joe Gage's most recent film. But, his new movie is almost ready for release and Gene hopes to have it in by the end of the month. The big-screen television is also scheduled to arrive in late November. Along with its comfortable viewing lounge, the 2724 Club features a spacious play area with booths, an orgy room and the only sling in Travis and several adjoining counties. Admission for an entire night is only $2, with full in-and-out privileges. "The two dollar admission is the only fee," Gene stresses. "The booths are free, the sling is free and the movies are free. There are no quarters or anything." The club also sells soft drinks, poppers and lubricants. Poppers are on sale for $2 through November. The 2724 Club is open from 8:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. seven days a week at 2724 Guadalupe, phone 476-CLUB. POPE OPPOSES MARRIED LUST Pope John Paul II has stated that "a man commits adultery in his heart by looking lustfully at any woman, even his wife." During his homily at the Vatican early in October, 1980, the pontiff remarked, "the sin is in the act of a man looking lustfully at a woman. Marital condition is immaterial." The delight of being in love masquerades as love itself and insecurities gnaw away at feelings (the termites of a love affair) and you. cleverly disguised in smiles and pleasant conversation And I am left empty My heart exposed to itself afraid to touch its own insides becomes a breeding ground for anger . . . Bill VanPatten 2724 Guadalupe NOW SHOWING AT THE 2724 CLUB 476—CLUB The Mustang Band, who have been appearing every other Friday at the Red Rirer Crossing, will return on Friday, November 7.
