Super-Digest of Texas NOT By-Laws, with Proposed
Purposes: Coordinate State action, exchange info and ideas, assist growth of membership,
coordinate with National.
Membership: All dues-paid members of National, whether or not Chapter-^affiliated.
ADD: residents of Texas who pay Texas NOT dues.
Structure: State Convention, State Council. Latter consists of elected officers and
one delegate jfcom each Chapter or convening Chapter of at least 10 members,
with an additional delegate for each fifty members after first fifty.
Elected officers are State Coordinator, State Communications Coordinator,
State Treasurer, and five area Membership Coordinators.
ELU-ZDIATE: State Legislative Coordinator and State Fundraiser.
State Convention: must be held every 12 to 18 months, time and place fixed by Council
with 60 days' notice to members. Quorum at Convention will be one-third of
Texas NOW members registered at Convention. Convention is supreme governing
body of Texas NOT.
State Council: inplements policy, controls funds, sets boundaries of areas from which
five membership coordinators are elected at Convention. Must meet at least
once in three months, xri.th three weeks* notice to members. Quorum is one
third of membersip, meetings are open to all Texas NOT members.
State Officers: elected after self-nomination at State Convention, by majority vote, with
provision for run-off. Take office at adjournment of Convention.
Duties: Coordinator presides3 calls meetings, is official spokesperson, is
liaison with National, assists formation of new Chapters, maintains
records, coordinates NOT actions at State level.
Communications Coordinator keeps records and disseminates to members
of Council one month after meetings, keeps roster, sends newsletter,
and functions as Coordinator in absence or inability of that Officer.
Treasurer receives and disburses funds, issues financial statements, keeps State membership list.
Membership coordinators foster new Chapters and represent at-large
members in their areas.
Dues: CLARIFIED. One dollar per member per year.
Amendments for By-Laws: requires two-thirds vote of Convention; amendments may originate
in Stdje Council, in Chapters or convening Chapters, or with 5% of membership.
Amendments may also be made by mail ballot, with due process.
Ratification: by yes/no roll call vote in Chapters, no later than July l£, 1975*
