There was an article in the Houston Voice in the December 22 issue and National Public Radio aired a piece interviewing members of the Medford community where Ellis and Abdill lived and owned a property management company. The Lesbian Health Initiative received a donation of $4,160 from the Black Tie Dinner, a glitzy joint fundraiser for local gay/lesbian civil rights, advocacy and health-related groups and the Human Rights Campaign.
