Transcript | HELLOOooo!!! Is There Anybody Out There??? There are 64 names on the Bay Area NOW membership list, but only four members were at the last chapter meeting -- again. What has happened to our commitment to the goals of the women's movement - - and to ourselves? Does Bay Area NOW Have A Future? What's happened? Do you believe that all the battles are won, or that the battles that remain are nto worth fighting? Do you believe the proponents of the status quo, or a return to the not- so "good old days," are too strong to oppose? Or are you so exhausted after 8 hours in the job-market and 4-6 hours of house- work after you're home that you don't have the energy to do some- thing for yourself or for others? Over the last twenty years, this nation has become more aware of women's issues and more responsive to allegations of sex discrim- ination because of NOW. In Texas, Bay Area NOW as been in the forefront of the women's movement for more than ten years. We are succeeding! Our victories have not come as fast, as easy, or as completely as we would have liked, but we have gained significant ground! we've been frustrated, of course, but was the pain of losing the ERA so acute that we are justified in quitting? Do we withdraw, or do we stand our ground and pus forward? Where Do We Go From Here? We are at a crossroads. Should Bay Area Now continue? Four mem- bers cannot do it alone! We need your help and your commitment! If your answer is yes, help us keep it together! Is There Anybody Out There??? HELLOOooo!!! |
