Transcript Page 8 BROADSIDE December 1973 AROUND THE CAMPUS The University of Houston Student Association has a Department of Women's Affairs. Its director, Camille McKinnon, has arranged a program with Carol Downer from the Los Angeles Feminist Health Collective. Carol will visit the campus and will participate in a program dealing with women and medical procedures. Hopefully there will be a self-help clinic arranged. All NOW members are invited to attend this program at the U of H Student Center on December 6 at 8 pm. PS: If you have any ideas or expressed interests relating to the women at U of H, please contact Allison Korn at 749-3388 or 747-1934. WE'RE HAVING A PARTY! Yes, although there's no time, date, or place set for it yet, it's definitely on. It will probably be for New Year's Eve! , but be sure to keep in touch with the Women's Center for details. If you'd like to help with the arrangements or have some good ideas for the theme (it'll be a fund-raiser, too naturally), contact Jeanne Necaise, 772-4843, or Harla Kaplan, 772-4987. The party, besides replenishing our puny treasury, will be a great opportunity to see everyone for the first time in a long while. See you there. TINGLE, TINGLE, TINGLE The following items are for sale at the Women's Center. They would make great gifts for Christmas or any other occasion. Liberated Woman's Appointment Calendar $3.00 Feminist Christmas Cards .05 Brassies 6.00 and 3.00 Key Chains 2.00 Subscriptions to Ms. 9.00 Bitch is Beautiful Award (suitable for framing) .50 NOW NATIONAL CONFERENCE The planning committee for the NOW National Conference met here in Houston October 28 for a very fruitful session. Although we have a lot of facilities bidding for our convention, it looks like the Rice Hotel and the Albert Thomas Convention Center are in the forefront of the race for our favors. There was discussion of what type of entertainment we'd provide and the arrangement of the agenda. We need a lot of help from everyone in Houston. Right now, help with contracts for secretarial aid, child care, etc. is our most pressing need. By January, we'll need help to arrange pre-registration, press releases, etc. If you have some free time during weekdays, you'll be especially valuable. Contact Jeanne Necaise at 772-4843 or Poppy Northcutt at 333-4610. AMAZE YOUR FRIENDS! IRRITATE YOUR EX-HUSBAND! HARASS YOUR BOSS! SEND THEM A GIFT SUBSCRIPTION TO THE BROADSIDE (we guarantee to keep your identity secret)
