Transcript This will be the fourth year that Texas feminists will participate in the State Textbook adoption process. In this time real changes are coming about. Some of the texts last year were quite acceptable to feminists. We understand that publishers are returning manuscript copies to authors with instructions to "Clean up the language"— and they don't mean four letter words.' Anyway, all systems are go. Texas NOW has voted Textbooks a statewide priority. Mary Buxton and Marjarie Randal from Bay Area and Kay Whyburn (Houston) are among NGW's state coordinators for textbook review, and the pink ladies are making their plans to protest also. Categories for adoption this year arei Elementary Social Studies in Spanish, grades 1, 2, Spanish Language Development, grade 3 Basal Reading in Spanish, grade 3 Supplementary Reading in Spanish, grade English as a Second Language, grade 3 Mathematics in Spanish, grade 3 Science in Spanish, grade 3 Spelling (in English;, grades 1-8 Mathematics, grades 1-8 High School Fundamentals of Mathematics II Introductory Algebra II Algebra I and II Geometry Mathematics of Consumer Economics Biology II Chemistry II French I and II Bookkeeping I and II Shorthand I and II Recordkeeping Distributive Education II
