Transcript Page 2 BROADSIDE/HERIZONS November, 1980 *THE NATIONAL NOW CONFERENCE in San Antonio passed several important resolutions; one of immediate interest was the endorsement of the Democratic platform planks concerning women's issues. No candidates were endorsed. Watch the December issue of BROADSIDE/HERIZONS for more on the conference.,.. ******************************** ♦NORTHWEST CHAPTER NEWS: The Northwest Chapter was well represented at the National Conference with nine people from our area attending! We all came back fired up and ready to work. We went to a wide variety of workshops and have lots of ideas for the coming year. We plan to start off in January with a membership dirve, setting a goal of doubling our current membership. ERA will be the primary focus of our attention, but we're also planning CR groups and programs on many other vital women's issues. Our next meeting will be Tuesday, Nov. 18, at 7:30 pm at Susan Blanchard's house. At this meeting we will begin making plans for the coming year. Among the items up for discussion are membership drive, fundraising events, program ideas, and or- ' ganizational structure of our chapter. If you are a member of the Northwest Chapter, or are interested in becoming one, please don't miss this meeting--we need your input and ideas! For further information, call 376-5486 or 376-2736. ******************************** *HANOW CALENDAR: Nov.6— Business meeting, election of officers: nominations include Pres: Jan Stevens and Aileen McMurrer; V.P: Jean Messerve, B.J. Lacon; Sec: Larry Carroll; Treas: Patricia Bastidas. Nominations are still open. Nov. 13— Program meeting: K.C. Sullivant, Director of Southwest Women's Center of Houston will present "Impact '80— information and discussion of current political and societal movements determined to take our bodies from ourselves. Nov. 20— Rap session, Jean Messerve's apt., 1937 Dryden #2. Nov. 6 and 13 meetings are held at the World Trade Center, 1520 Texas Ave. 7:30 PM ******************************** ERA FUND RAISING HALLOWEEN PARTY (COSTUMES OPTIONAL) CASH BAR MICHELLE AND GAIL WENT SPAS AND DECIDED TO TRY AND RAISE A FEW BUCKS FOR THE ERA.
