Transcript | There can be no time limits on equal rights for women. With cooperation and participation by all of us, this processional march will communicate to Congress the massive nation-wide grassroots support that exists today for the E.R.A. ... We are encouraging as many people as possible to stay over in Washington, D.C, for a lobbying day in support of the Extension on Manday, July 10th. Lobbying kits and information will be provided during briefing sessions that will be conducted in the Presidential Room of Union Station, starting at 9 a.m., July 10th. All participants in the lobbying should first report to the Presidential Room for up-to-date information. The impact of the March will be heightened considerably by a well-informed and-coordinated lobbying activity on July 10th. . . . Looking forward to seeing you on July 9th. The time is upon us to go one more mile for the E.R.A. * * *From an open letter by Eleanor Smeal, President, National Organization for Women MARCH ON WASHINGTON N.O.W. has called for a march on Washington, D.C, on Sunday, July 9th. If we appear 100,000 strong we may be able to influence the public, both houses of Congress, and the legislatures of unratified states. If is a tough decision to make. It will cost us a minimum of $158 per person providing *K> persons make their reservations by June 20th and are fully paid. All ^0 persons must go and return with the group. I repeat, it will cost $158 round trip if we go as a group, bO strong, paid in full by June 20, 1978. A second choice is "individual" excursion rate--$20?— providing your reservation is made and paid a minimum of seven days in advance, and that you leave on a Saturday, and return no sooner than 2^ hours. Samples of leaving and returning schedules follw. All are arranged so that we can manage without hotel expense, providing of course you are willing to "doze" in a group in an airport or some such place. National office of N.O.W. hasn't talked of what we do for "sleeping space*" in D.C. It may be that N.O.W. will follow the pattern set by the Civil Rights (continued on page 7) |
