To become a member, you simply attend one of the orientation meetings (held every Friday at 7 PM) and pay the initial membership fee of $3 per person or $9 per household. Thereafter, quarterly membership fees are $2 per person and $6 per household. Members work at least three hours per month for the co-op or, if non-working, pay an additional 20% surcharge. Basic decisions on the operation of the co-op are made by members at bi-monthly membership meetings. But the day-to-day decisions and work are done by smaller groups called collectives. At present, there are collectives concerned with store operations, buying, finances, communications and maintenance. A nine-member board of directors, who are elected annually, advise and direct the collective effort and handle legal affairs. Our co-op is still fluid, growing and needs your energy.
