Transcript KPRC showed bad judgment in excluding two groups that had worked with us, the Caucus and Women in Communication, and In rejecting student representation (the U of H Women's Advocate). They did include the Desk and Derrick Club, made up of secretaries In the petroleum Industry, thus choosing to include a local and specialized group Instead of the National Secretaries Association, an international group committed to improving the profession and image of secretaries. Our letter of protest called for (1) mare minority-group representation cn the W. A. C., particularly because minority women have poor representation at KFi:C (witness i 4 male minority on-air reporters, one a morning anchor, but no minority women reporters), (2) rescinding HOW's invitation to the W. A. C., especially since HOW objects to the existence of the W. A. C, (3) reconsidering the exclusion of the Caucus, Women In Communications, the NSA, and U of H Women's Advocate. KPRC/GOGD-BAD NEWS DEPT. A transcript of Houston NOW's first meeting with KPRC station manager Jack Harris in December 1973 will appear in the September issue of Media Report to Women. That meeting, which was perhaps an all-time low in citizen-broadcaster communication, will hopefully serve as an instructive horrible example of sexist confrontation. Other women's rights groups may profit from this example. In the same issue will appear KPRC News Director Ray Killer's staff memo setting forth standards far non-sexist language. KPRC/GOOD NEWS DEPT. Following our agreement, KPRC hired its first woman studio camera operator, U of H graduate Kathy Bell. Carole Kneeland did an excellent 10 part series on Child Care and will do a series on sex crimes during September. FALL TV SERIES. Tast year there were no women in leading roles on TV evening cops and robbers or Kung Fu drama shows. NBC is this fall airing POLICE WOMAN, starring Angle Dickinson, who says of her leading role, "They are going to make me as attractive as possible all the way. While I won't be making a lot of money like so many young women today, I'll Invest a great deal of It into clothes. Then, too, being an undercover agent gal, I'll be dealing with a lot of underworld men who want sex. Of course, you have men who want sex in every world, but in the underworld they have guns. So I'll be involved like that." Anyone who had high hopes far that show may as well forget it. It premieres Friday the 13th! (Channel 2, at 10 p.m.) Janice Blue TASK FORCE REPORT RAPE CRISIS It's official that NOW is a member of the Rape Crisis Coalition.
