Transcript STATE COORDINATOR'S REPORT ON NATIONAL BOARD MEETING The NOW Board of Directors met August 2nd and 3rd in Boston. The local NOW chapter hostessed a fun party around the pool on Friday night before the meeting began. The meeting began promptly at 9:00 a.m. with all the state coordinators from the Eastern region present. The President, Karen DeCrow, submitted her appointments to committees, and they were all consented to on Sunday. I was appointed to the State-Chapter committee which I will co-chair with Jackie Frost, Southern regional director. The function of this committee will be to look at the role of the state structure as it is provided in the new amendment to the by-laws which were passed In Houston. I was also appointed to the legislative committee, and I will work closely with Ann Scott and the Washington Legislative Office to help establish priorities In NOW's lobbying effort. The board consented to an affirmative action committee which will look at each committee and executive office to try to eliminate racism and sexism on the national level of the National Organization for Women. The Eastern Regional State Coordinators brought forth a resolution asking all state coordinators to meet soon as equals with the national board. The resolution was amended and referred to the State-Chapter committee in order that all state coordinators and chapter presidents could be polled to see if other state coordinators felt a need to meet with the national beard. Please, answer this poll which is being sailed to you far your input. I feel as I have said before that I am your chapter representative to the national board. Please, let me know your concerns and gripes so that I can help strengthen NOW. I hope your local chapter newsletter will print this letter after each national board meeting in order that I can receive feedback from local NOW nembers. Also, if you would like me to visit your chapter to talk about national NOW, please call me collect at 214-363-2838 or write ae at 5949 KLderwocd, Dallas, Texas 75230.
