Transcript THE WIT AND WISDOM OF MADAM PRESIDENT We have a problem, gang. People stay away from our business meetings In droves. Far a very good reason—they last much too long. The reason they last too long Is that we do not have our shit together. The agenda far the August business meeting contained 8 items. During the final minutes before the meeting was called to order, 6 people requested that they be added.to the agenda. I realize that many times we do have last-minute business, and it Is not our Intention to be Inflexible, But when people routinely wait until the last minute either because of a lack of forethought or because of simple laziness, we are being taken advantage of. We are going to solve this problem and this Is how we are going to do It! Any member who anticipates bringing up new business at a meeting shall request a spot on the agenda. The agenda is made up at the Board meeting each month (the Monday night prior to the Business meeting). If you wish to be placed on the agenda, come to the Board meeting. Many times we find that proposals are not In compliance with the by-laws, ar not feasible far financial or other reasons, or do not require action by the entire membership. Task Farce reports belong In the BROADSIDE, not at Business meetings. It Is the duty of the Task Force Coordinator to submit a monthly Task Force report to the BROADSIDE Editor prior to the monthly deadline. It is not the duty of the Editor, President, or anyone else to retiind Task Farce Coordinators of the deadline. Tack Force Coordinators are also members of the Board of Directors. It is their duty to attend Board meetings, also without monthly reminders. Task Farce Coordinators should request a spot on the agenda when they require some sort of action from the membership', i.e., passage of a resolution, request far funds from the treasury, or assistance from the membership-at-large (letter-writing, TV monitoring, textbook review, etc.). A status report Is not necessary. At the September Business meeting we will consider chapter priorities far the coming year. Anyone who plans to suggest a priority to the membership for consideration should, I repeat, come to the Board meeting to request placement on the agenda. It is expected that all proposals made to the membership will be clear and concise. If the proposal will Involve expenditure of chapter funds, state a specific amount (ar your best estimate). If It will Involve shltwark, give your estimate of when, what kind, and how much. Any proposal should involve the entire membership at some point in its completion. Jan CR GROUPS There will be a meeting far all women Interested in farming consciousness raising groups on September 25 at 8 p.m. at the Women's Center. If you want to participate in a group, present your body at that time. Helen Copitka office 526-5547 home 664-2598 Page 2
