This will be my last editorial. For those of you who weren't at the July Business Meeting, I was elected President of the Houston chapter. Although I've only been President for three weeks, it's already clear that I won't have time to be both President and Editor. Alas. But do not rush off and stick your head in the oven. I am passing the torch to the very clever fingers of Mary Ross Rhyne, who will become the new BROADSIDE editor. Mary Ross has agreed to publish some of my more outstanding prose & poetry from time to time, so I will not disappear from these pages entirely. To her credit, she made this agreement after a minimum amount of verbal threats and physical .abuse. A true feminist. You realize of course that this is not the most perfect time in the history of our country to have the title "President". Right in the middle of the House Judiciary Committee vote on the first article of impeachment against Milhous, I leaped up and began shuffling through the presidential papers in search of a copy of our bylaws. What a relief - we have no provisions for impeachment! I made the mistake of crowing about this to some of our members, who quickly disabused me of any feeling of security by informing me that there were other ways of getting rid of me, including putting out a contract for a "hit" on the Prez. Oh. However, I do want to make you a few promises: I promise to abide by our bylaws. I promise not to take a tax write-off on the presidential papers. I promise not to make any improvements on the president's residence with chapter funds. I do not own a tape recorder. I have, however, made up an "Enemies List" and here it is. 1. Ignorance 2. Fear 3. Prejudice They are my enemies and they are yours. Let's give 'em hell.
