Transcript Dear Members: The following resolutions were to have been considered at the 1974 Southern Regional Conference held in Memphis last October. The Conference lacked a quorum to consider them, and voted to have them mailed to chapters far discussion and voting. The full text of all the resolutions is posted at the Women's Center. I have attempted to summarize each resolution below so that you can have some idea of what we will be voting on at the January business meeting (the THIRD Wednesday, January 15). 1. Commendation of Senator William. Brock(R, Tenn.j for his attempts to obtain equal credit legislation for women. 2. Establishment of a minority and ehtnic affairs column in DO IT NOW. 3. Undertaking a study of wife beating. k. Various actions in support of Chilean women political prisoners. 5.Reaffirmation of commitment to work on ERA as a priority issue. 6. Action to require military service academies to admit women on an equal basis with men. 7. Establishment of feminist credit unions. 8. National by-laws change to institute a delegate system far all NOW National Conferences. 9. Adoption of the pronoun THEY as a generic singular in all NOW literature instead of HE or SHE. 10. Commendation of the Memphis Chapter far their work on the Southern Regional Conference. 11. Requirement far the Southern Regional Director to submit a budget to state coordinators and to report income and expenditures to all chapter presidents. 12. Support balloting far National and Regional officers through the mails rather than have elections at the National Conference, 13. Require 10 months advance notice of location of each Southern Regional Conference. Please come to the January business meeting prepared to discuss and vote on these resolutions. jan
