Transcript TEXAS1 AKRON ORDl NANCL; U.K. I0b3 b£ Re£. Bill Ceverha of Dallas On Febru%ry 14, 1979 (Happy Valentinefs Day), Rep. Ceverha introduced - an abortion regulation bill. There are several sections of the bill which need explanation. Obviously, TARAL is totally opposed to the bill. The bill stipulates: 1. The attending physician must certify that he/she has provided the woman (and her husband if she is married; and both her parents if she is under 18.) with the following materials 24 hours prior to the abortion: a. Materials to inform the parties that it is the policy of the state that the fetus is a human being and that the woman should continue the pregnancy. b. Materials setting forth agencies and services that would assist a woman through her pregnancy. c. Materials setting forth the risks of the procedure. d. Materials designed to inform the woman (husband/parents) of the physical characteristics of the fetus at the present stage of development including, mobility, sensitivity, response to pain stimulus, brain and heart function, and development of external members and in- ternal organs. These materials must be accompanied by photographs and other visual aids. 2. Now abortions may be performed after 12 weeks except in a hospital. 3. Standards for abortion facilities must be the same as those for a surgical facility. 4. The attending physician must dispose of the fetal remains in a manner consistent with human dignity. 5. The attending physician must gather statistical data as deemed necessary by the Board of Health. H.B. 1063 has been referred to the Health Services Committee.
