Transcript H.B. 67 -- introduced by Representative Kubiak. This bill was sent to the State Affairs Commiittee on January 22nd. It would prohibit abortions after viability, defined as capable of living outside the womb. "Capable of living outside the womb" includes situations where life support systems must be provided to the fetus. Therefore, written between the lines of this bill is a requirement that physicians try to keep fetuses alive. The bill amends the Penal Code, and an offense is a felony in the first degree. Only when the mother's life is in danger may an abortion be performed after viability. (TARAL) (NOW) House State Affairs Committee -- WRITE SOON!
