Transcript texas new news The State NOW Council met June 14 in College Station. The Criminal Justice Task Force has prepared a questionnaire covering conditions at city and county jails which will be mailed to presidents of chapters in the 15 largest cities in Texas. The Task Force also secured the endorsement of the Council to recommend Helen Copitka (Houston Area NOW) for a position on the new Board of Pardons and Paroles. Letters of recommendation should be sent to Governor Briscoe, Judge Onion, and Judge Green- hill in Austin. If the new state bylaws are approved, a letter will be sent to all NOW members in Texas containing information about joining Texas NOW, about our state task forces, and about group flight rates to the National Conference. For the State Council to properly function under the proposed bylaws, state dues should be paid by September 1, 1975. Martha Dickey Editor's Note: Your June BROADSIDE contained a ballot for voting on the Texas NOW bylaws, Please return it to the Women's Center to the attention of Helen Cassidy.
