Transcript task force reports WOMEN'S CENTER TASK FORCE The Women's Center provides Houston Area NOW, Harris County Women's Political Caucus (HCWPC), Houston Rape Crisis Coalition (HRCC), Women's Equity Action League (WEAL), and Houston Area Feminist Federal Credit Union (HAFFCU) with meeting space, mailboxes and telephone answering services. It also provides callers and visitors with information about the above groups. TRUE or FALSE? Answer: FALSE. The Women's Center provides a roof over Willard's* head, and that's all. All the rest of the above services, as well as money for rent and utilities, are provided by all of US. And what we need now are more people to share the burden. When we opened the Center we intended it to be supported largely by a $1 per month donation from everyone who uses the Center. When we quit asking, everyone forgot. Please try to remember it again. A dollar isn't much for most of us. Consider the Center another utility, your Friendly Feminist Company, and drop us a dollar when you pay your bills each month. As for utility regulation, join the new Women's Center Task Force which will meet Thursday, July 10, 7:30 PM. Help answer questions such as: What should we do about the marquee? the bushes? the workroom? Does anyone have any non-electric hedge clippers? Several indispensable people (Nancy, Iris, Chris, Ann, Ro and Jackie among them) have kept us going with office and bathroom supplies lately. Tell them thank you when you see them. Jackie and Ro and I cleaned out the workroom June 19. The Caucus is coordinating the clean-up session for this month on the 13th. Come and help. Jan Pierce *For those of you who haven't met her, Willard is our resident mouse. (No, she's not named after the rat movie. Emma Willard was an important foremother in education.) She has moved back in after an apparent absence to feast on the popcorn left over from the Caucus party. 3
