The schedule is as follows: Oct. 19 The Economics of Living with Someone Nov. 16 Sharing the Shit - Housework and Child Care Dec. 14 Individuality Within Marriage Jan. 18 Child-Rearing - How do you do it Outside the Nuclear Family? WOMEN IN THE ARTS Our October meeting will feature a program by Charlotte Moser on the First National Conference on Women in the Arts. Charlotte has just returned from Racine, Wisconsin where the University of Wisconsin gathered notables from all over the art world together in the famous Wingspread-Johnson Foundation Conference Center. The program will be October 17 at 7pm at the Kipling Gallery, 2144 Kipling (behind the Alabama Theater). Call 524-5892 for directions. Bring cold wine or something to drink. New stuff: Sid Dorf is heading up our research project to study the status of women artists of all professions, educational institutions, galleries, etc. in the Houston area. She is currently seeking a graduate student or professional researcher to handle the project. Call her at 626-3750. Also, Janice Blue of the Rice Media Center is organizing some terrific film projects and an impressive program for November. More news on our film group later. On continuing projects, the Art Show is still on the boards for spring and we have positive rumblings on a big museum location. The poetry show from August's meeting was rerun for the National Board when they were here planning the May convention. If you missed both performances, a censored rerun of our infamous poetry show, "A Band of Scribbling Women" will be shown at the Houston Public Library lunchtime get-together on October 10. For more information on Women in the Arts call April Raines at 528-047 9. OUR THANKS TO: Pam Nowell for her work on our Open House. Joan Ritter for her continuing work at the Women's Center. Linda Bayer and her husband for all the cleaning and work they did for the picnic at the Women's Center on July 4. ** He says he likes me. * He thinks I'm funny. * He wonders what I do when he's gone. * I think he's handsome. * He drives me crazy. * I'm not telling what I do when he's gone. * Esmerelda McEldwick WOMANPOWER - IT'S MUCH TOO GOOD TO WASTE. |
