Transcript August, 1981 BROADSIDE/HERIZONS Page 7 xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx TEXAS STATE CONVENTION ****************** "Women Walk More Determined" was the theme for the State Convention held June 26th-28th in Dallas. Everything was right on schedule, and a lot was accomplished. There were 9 resolutions adopted, many of which deal with the ERA. The ratification of the ERA has been set as the Primary goal for Texas NOW; the Message Brigade is a top priority for 1981 and 82 with a goal set of 50,000 responses; Texas NOW has adopted Oklahoma as its sister state and set a goal of $5,000.00 to be raised and sent to Oklahoma. For information about the other resolutions, contact your local Chapter. Dallas and North Dallas NOW did an extremely good job of coordinating and organizing the convention. We greatly appreciate the work they did. . There was a rally held Sunday for the ERA, and one of the most moving parts of it was a speech given by Jan Stevens. She called for sacrifices on our time and money this coming year for the ERA in exchange for seeing that third state ratify. New Officers were elected: Mary Caulk- President, Jan Stevens- Vice-President, Bonnie Huval-Secretary and Terry Butler- Treasurer. Deborah Bell is our new Membership Coordinator for Area III. ARE YOU INTERESTED IN WRITING? Then this is the job for you! There is an opening for Editor of the Texas NOW Times, This is your chance to "try your wings". Don't be afraid to attempt this challenging new task. Contact Jan Stevens, 445-2220. President Reagan's nomination for Supreme Court Judge, Sandra O'Connor, should be supported through your letters to him and your respective legislators. PLEASE WRITE! A WOMEN'S STORE 1905 W.
