Transcript | BROADSIDE HOUSTON AREA NOW BROADSIDE—VOL. 12, No. 8 August, 1981 A RUN TOWARDS FURTHER EQUALITY. Sixty one years ago the Nineteenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution was declared adopted. The date was August 26, 1920. In honor of this Women's Equality Day there will be ERA Walkathons held nationwide by NOW.—THIS WILL BE OUR FINAL WALKA- THON; our last step towards making the ratification of the ERA a reality. The road we walk on is a rough and rigorous one. It is the same road our foremothers tread upon in their fight for the right to vote. Many miles have been covered and we will travel many more. This is your chance to take your first step. Section 1: Section 2: ARTICLE XIX The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of sex. Congress shall have the power to enforce this Article by appropriate legislation. Drawing bv Deborah Bel COALITION OF GREATER HOUSTON NOW CHAPTERS RIZONS—VOL. 6, No. August, 1981 |
