Transcript ERA ACTION 1EAM Starting Monday, February 4th we have a new location for our action center thanks to the generosity of member Rachel Suarez. We appreciate the accomodations provided by Jim Brown for the month of January. These volunteers worked one or more evenings this month: Marlene Hardin, Evie Whitsett, Lynn McGregor, Bob Doughty, Jenny Seltzer,MaryMcPaddin, Sandra Linton,Roberta Blackburn, Christina Haight, Phyllis Tucker, Ann Pine, Lou McFfeddin, Jean Stein, Melissa Weiksnar, Twiss Butler, Bonnie Huval, Wendy Rudnicki, Sonia Doty, Pat Kuhlmann, Gail Anderson, Sandy Anderson, Avis Nettles, Suzanne Nettles, Mary Johnson, Marie Stimson. PLEASE DO COME BACK AND OTHERS COME FORWARD. Call Jeanne at 471-2862 and sign up for a Monday or Wednesday in February. An ERA vote is expected in Missouri between now and February 17. A victory there could start the ball rolling again for ratification. We're finding out who has the best telephone manner, the worst handwriting, the most persuasive fund-raising spiel. When the young ones ask us what we did for ERA, we'll have a story to tell. Let me know if you would like to do speaking for ERA or just go along to observe and help out. If Sonia Johnson's offense against her Mormon church (Post Dec. 6, Sound-Off Decc. 27) was so serious that the male elders had to excommunicate her, then all women will be taking a closer look at our own reality, especially when we belong to a group which pays lip service to equal rights but obstructs the passage of an Equal Rights Amendment Besides organizing Mormons for ERA, Sonia Johnson offended by criticizing her church for using church money and influence to organize the opposition to ERA in the western states and nationwide. , • With such clear and documented opposition to ERA In the Mormon hierarchy, I think we must call on Presi- dent Carter to intervene in Idaho, where Judge Callister, a Mormon, is scheduled to rule on the legality of recision affecting ERA. Judicial fairness requires that this case be re-assigned. Wendy Radnicki 11915 Aspen Hills, Houston, Texas 77062 'Of course, I've had to make sacrifices for my career.
