Transcript June 1982 BROADSIDE PAGES New Chapter Newe Spring Branch - Memorial NOW elected officers and adopted by-laws at its May meeting. Officers for 1982 are: Pres ident VP/Secretary Treasurer Deborah Bel I Jenifer Foster Audrey Yates-Crawford Task Forces were discussed and three were established. Pat Nicols will serve as the chair for the Nuclear Power Task Force and Joan Rooke will work on Media Reform, including Violence against women in the media. Deborah Bell will be ERA chair. Other task forces need people to serve as chairs. Still open are: Homemaker Rights*Textbook Review Reproductive Choice Violence Against Women Publicity Programs Or. any other issue of concern that you would like to do work on. A Task force gathers information and material about the issue, help is available from Texas State NOW & National NOW and then reports back to the chapter. Also the chairperson is in charge of coordinating actions such as letter- writing sessions, phone calling, even making speeches and doing programs at NOW meetings and other groups. A very important position to fill is a person to be our Legislative chair to the Women's Lobby Alliance. This person would represent the chapter at the WLA meeting once a month and report back to the chapter on the information received there. Contact Deborah if you would like to take on the responsibility of a task force. ADVERTISING Houston Area NOW had a very successfuI wine & cheese reception for Candidate* who were in the May Primary races. Part of that success was from the donation of cheeses by Raymond E. Sawyer of the RIVER OAKS CHEESE SHOP. On this page is a business card ad to show our appreciation and to encourage support of a NOW member business. Business card ads are available at a rate of $5 per month, below are the rates for other size ads.
