Transcript TWPC POLICY COUNCIL MEETING JULY 14 The next state policy council meeting is Saturday, July 14, at 10 a.m. in Austin. Exact location will be announced later. All members may attend HCWPC PLANNING DELEGATION TO TWPC STATE CONVENTION IN SAN ANTONIO The HCWPC is investigating group bus rates and group room rates for the state convention August 17-19 in San Antonio at the Gunter Hotel. Registration will be $10 per person or $7.50 per person in groups of 25 or more registering in advance. Four workshops will be offered on social, political, economic, and educational issues; the social issue workshop is on Friday evening, and the others are on Saturday. There will be two business sessions: Saturday afternoon will take up nominations and structure; Sunday will take up resolutions. A special fund-raising fiesta will be held on Saturday night from 8-10:30 at Hemisfair's Mexican hall of culture, featuring Mexican food and mariachis. If you are tentatively planning to attend or want more information on the special HCWPC arrangements as they are completed, send in the blank found elsewhere in this newsletter. We want to have a large Harris County delegation; make a special effort to go I IF YOU'RE BROKE AND COOL-NATURED, help is on its way in the form of Susan Heavey. Susan has volunteered her un-airconditioned Volkswagen to transport delegates to the state convention in San Antonio, and may even be able to provide free lodging for those who ride with her. PARLIAMENTARY PROCEDURE WORKSHOP SCHEDULED HCWPC's appointed parliamentarian, Betty Barnes, will lead a workshop on parliamentary procedure at the Women's Center, 3602 Milam, from 7-9 pm. Monday, June 25. This first session, probably one of a series, is being held to familiarize members with procedural techniques we need to know to function effectively in HCWPC and in other organizations, such as political parties.
