Transcript EMPLOYMENT COMPLIANCE TASK FORCE Attention, all those interested in Employment Compliance! Our task force wants your help. On April 1 we had an organizational meeting and on April 21 began training discussions. For information on our next meeting date and on how you can participate, call the Women's Center, 524-5743. Pamela Hamilton & Linda Smith NATIONAL ERA RALLY Buses will depart from Houston and San Antonio to go to Illinois for the May 16 ERA rally. Bus fare will be about $50. Be sure to contact Becky Mitchell at 527-9057 or Betty Barnes at 487-2489, RIGHT AWAY, if you plan to go. We will have a poster-making party on Tuesday, May 11, 7:30 PM at the Center. Come help make posters and send off our representatives, even if you can't make the trip. DUES RENEWAL If you received a letter from National NOW urging you to renew your dues and you have already done so, don't worry. National sent the letters to everyone. If you renewed your dues through Houston Area NOW, we have a record of you and you are a member of local, state and national NOW. TEXAS NOW COUNCIL MEETING Martha Dickey reported that Texas NOW has joined the League of Women Voters, WEAL, Texas Nurses, AAUW, TWPC and Wichita Falls' Commission on the Status of Women to work for Texas legislation in four areas: Education, Child Care, Criminal Justice and Employment. Final plans for the State NOW Convention were made. There will be workshops on Rape, Third World Women, Lesbian Rights, Rural Organizing, Criminal Justice, Education & Textbooks, Newsletters, Education and Title IX, Chapter Growth & Development, Masculine Mystique, Marriage & Divorce, National Bylaws, Women's Health Care, Equal Rights Amendment, Money & Women, Employment Compliance, Reproductive Freedom, Child Care, Radical Feminism, and Consciousness Raising. Every NOW member in Texas should have received a call to the conference. If you didn't, or need more information, call the Center. The State Council passed a resolution opposing the proposed breakup of the University of Texas System School of Nursing. 3
