It's not a sometimes friend. it Electricity powers the lights that help you see as you go about your daily tasks; that keep your home safe during the night and that control the traffic so you may travel safely to and from your destination. It makes possible the security of the incubator for a newborn child and runs many a medical instrument that you hope you'll never need. In your home it refrigerates your f)-?Tr?j*?!*?1':l*:! food, keeping it safe for you and your . family. It brings the world into your living room- ■ for entertainment, education, and information. It helps cook and clean and heat and cool. ft P Ml^iii#.i6i?ii " lift*.. It powers the elevator that lifts you to your office, and the electric typewriters and calculators that speed the flow of business. And on the job it makes things move. Electricity provides the power for your welding torch, drives your drill and powers your saw. It raises the hoists and runs the machines that forge our steel and mold our plastics. Electricity is the muscle enabling industry to recycle, reclaim and reuse many products. And it is helping to make our world a better place to live through controlling and reducing air and water pollution. It's your electricity . . . and you have a stake in being sure it's always available when you need it. That's why Houston Lighting & Power Company continues to build new generating plants, distribution and transmission systems. As our population grows, we too must keep pace.
