Transcript Page 2 BROADSIDE JULY 1973 SIMULTANEOUS DISCHARGE OF ALL THE GUNS ON ONE SIDE OF A WARSHIP . . . ANY STRONG OR COMPREHENSIVE ATTACK, AS BY CRITICISM ... A SONG, CHIEFLY IN 16TH- AND 17TH-CENTURY ENGLAND, WRITTEN ON A TOPICAL SUBJECT, PRINTED ON BROADSIDES, AND SUNG IN PUBLIC .... BY A PROFESSIONAL BALLADEER . THE RANDOM HOUSE DICTIONARY OF THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE, UNABRIDGED EDITION Comment Now is the time for all good women (and men) to come to the aid of the Broadside. After much soul-searching, I have decided to resign as editor because of new business commitments. This doesn't mean that the Broadside won't continue to grow and change as it's done for four years. But it does mean that somebody ( hopefully somebodies) must take over the incredible amount of work that goes into producing this paper. In recent history, this newsletter has seen several innovations. We now have regular columns on lesbians, women's health, human liberation, and women and film. We have a regular reporter for the task forces and a lively exchange in letters to the editor. However, a list of what we haven't done would probably be more appropriate. There i^ enough talent and energy in Houston to produce a first rate women's paper, but it takes more than good intentions to run a newspaper. Because so many NOW members are over-committed to the multitude of projects that must be done, I have had great difficulty in getting much cooperation from the membership. What few hardy souls who have helped throw up their hands in dismay when confronted with the immensity of the task. A good newsletter for NOW combined with a good newspaper for all the women in Houston could be a reality .... with commitment and organization. I am more than willing to help others do this, but I will no longer attempt to function singlehandedly. notice NEW BROADSIDE DEADLINE JULY 11 BROADSIDE STAFF EDITOR: Sara McDaniel CONTRIBUTORS: Sandy Allwright, Linda Bowen, Brenda Cooper, Parrish Hirasaki, Marlyne Kilbey, Martha McFerren, Wendy Meyer, Bonnie Moore, April Raines, Bill Schnapp, Pat Dowel 1 NOW OFFICERS PRESIDENT: Parrish Hirasaki 332-4247 VICE PRESIDENT: Peggy Hall 528-3424 SECRETARY: Muncy McKinney 944-5534 TREASURER: Ann McClung 488-0148 TASK FORCE COORDINATORS BROADSIDE: Sara McDaniel 523-1413 CHILD CARE: Bonnie Burnett 522-9114 CREDIT: Susan Butler 664-9534 EDUCATION: Kay Whyburn 667-8556 EMPLOYMENT: Linda Feahr 644-4861 FCC: Betty Barnes 487-2489 Susan Hedding 667-5443 FUND RAISING: Marlyne Kilbey 664-4121 MARRIAGE & Peggy Hall DIVORCE: 528-3424 POLITICS & Helen Cassidy LOBBYING: 748-5369 REPRODUCTION Jeanne Necaise & ITS CONTROL: 772-4843 WOMEN IN THE ARTS: April Raines 682-4097 National Organization for Women P. 0.
