Transcript PAGE 4 BROADSIDE May 198 CALL TO HALT THE NUCLEAR ARMS RACE Proposal for a Mutual US-Soviet Nuclear-Weapon Freeze To improve national and international security, the United States and the Soviet Union should stop the nuclear arms race. Specifically, they should adopt a mutual freeze on testing, production and deployment of nuclear weapons and of missiles and new aircraft designed primarily to deliver nuclear weapons. This is an essential, vertifiable first step toward lessening the risk of nuclear war and reducing nuclear arsenals. JO ANNE! The Ensemble (theater)- 1010 Tuam, will perform JO ANNE! A provocative play by Ed Bui I ins focusing on Joan Little, the black prisoner who killed a white guard (who tried to rape her) and was nearly lost in a crowd of people attempting to use her as a political, legal, racial, and feminist symbol, tickets $6 call 520-0055. WOMEN AND PORNOGRAPHY Houston Area NOW will look into the issue of pornography and how it effects women at it's program meeting May 13. See calendar for location and time. A slide show will be shown by Houston Women Take Back the Night. The images shown are shocking and according to some feminists who have seen it, these are some of the milder examples of the explotation of women. We are being bombarded with images in television and magazines that are strongly abusive and insulting to us. Pornography isn't a healthy sexual outlet in that it distorts the relationships between men and women. Violence intertwined with sex seems to be a favorite theme in the pornography business.
