Transcript My Food, My Feelings I need to stop drinking Raspberry beer It reminds me of her And she's no longer here. I suppose the warm, comforting, Toll House cookies must go A gentle reminder Of childhood long ago. look back with longing On intimate nights Devouring hot pizza Till it was lost out of sight. The chips, the chocolate The raspberry beer All methods of numbing The feelings I fear. The shame and self-hatred The feelings of doubt The food is not the problem It's what I'm all about. The lost little girl Whose needs were never met Stopped feeling her feelings And ate instead. Happiness, sadness Feelings of shame Food was used To anesthetize the pain. I've served my time in 12-step groups Trying to live "one day at a time" I've journaled, I've sponsored, I've read the Big Book And now I've come to find A broken soul, a misfit child Who ate instead of feel Learns how to cope without the food And face in life what's real. Coming out of the shadows Out of the past My "self" emerges Finally, at last! —Tabbi Arnold Swilley B Hudson & ASSOCIATES INC. - REALTORS Call Roberta Walters Houston's Largest and Oldest Company Serving the Gay and Lesbian Community 704 Hawthorne Houston 77006 520*8888 Ext 300 z^__^^ 1^^ E"l 1 ■ 1 HUBBARD Financial Services, Inc. □__ • Income Tax Service • Past Due & Out-Of-State Returns • Estates, Trusts & Gift Returns L_jL_j[j • Business Bookkeeping & Tax Returns Kathy Hubbard, E.A.
