Transcript point of view No one knew quite what to make of it. All those Crazy Women bellying up to the bar. It was not your usual Ladies' Night at The Orchard. You would have thought President Ford was in town from the number of television crews, microphones and tape recorders. A true Media Event. Driving home from the office that afternoon I listened to the DJ on KULF telling his audience to stay tuned to his station to find out which bar the feminists were going to hit that night. He mentioned the "drink-in" eight times during one half-hour segment. I began to think we had created a monster. Although we left the Women's Center with 40-50 people, by the time we had been at the bar for an hour there were easily a hundred of us. The "first team" drinkers were giving their all for feminism and the bartender, who had been delighted at first, was beginning to complain that the women weren't tipping. Weren't tipping? 15$ of nothing is nothing, right? The music was fine and the dance floor was crowded as we bumped, hustled, and just plain boogied. Some of our members exhibited rare Terpsichorean talent to an amazing degree. The best thing of all was the number of great big grins on the faces of the participants. The Orchard is still having Ladies' Night. I think I'll wander over there about 8 PM on Thursday, November 20, and have a little drink. Why don't you join me? broad-side 1: a sheet of paper printed on one or both sides and folded 2: any strong or comprehensive attack, as by criticism 3: the simultaneous discharge of all the guns on one side of a ship Copyright 1975.
