Transcript Steinem perspectives ■ On feminism: The radical vision of feminism depends on its possibility of transforming the status of all women, not just a correct few. ■ On military service: No wonder there is a deep conviction among many women that this society just doesn't want us to learn how to use force. What would happen if all the underpaid waitresses and rape victims and battered wives had a little military training? ■ On value of work: If all the productive work of human maintenance that women do in the home were valued at its replacement cost, the gross national product of the United States would go up by 26 percent. ■ On networking: It's a primary way women discover that we are not crazy, the system is. We also discover that mutual-support groups can create change where the most courageous individual woman could not. ■ On pornography: Until we finally untangle sexuality and aggression, there will be more pornography and less erotica. There will be little murders in our beds — and very little love. ■ On survival: We look at how far we've come, and then we know — there can be no turning back. Though nearly half of the male local-news anchors in this country are over 40, only 3% of their female counterparts have reached that venerable age. Furthermore, while 16% of male local anchors are over 50, there are no female anchors of that vintage, according to a survey conducted by Audience Research and Development. TV GUIDE 'Woman's Guide' A 54-page booklet containing useful information about laws which protect working women during the job hunt, at work and during retirement has just been released by the Women's Bureau of the U.S. Department of Labor. Free single copies of the 1983 edition of "A Working Woman's Guide to Her Job Rights" are available by writing Women's Bureau, U.S. Department of Labor, Washington, D.C.20210.
