JOBS THAT NEED DOING —Betty Yancey, 534-6244, has asked each of us to monitor the local newspapers, and to report to her any articles from our chapter that have been published. —Nora Mertz has asked for volunteers to help with the telephone tree. Anyone wishing to help Nora and Burdy Miskimin please call 554-6738. —Dorothy Pearson, 332-3993, has asked for any reports of contacts with national legislators; these reports will be consolidated and reported to the NOW National Legislative Office. COMMUNICATIONS from Nora Mertz The task force on rape met November 19 to organize and plan strategy. We are going to: 1) Interview as many local law enforcement and judicial officers as possible. 2) Prepare an informational and information gathering program to be presented at hospitals. This program will be updated and revised for presentation to any group who will listen. 3) Evaluate our findings and prepare a report to be sent to chapter, state and national. Five persons from Bay Area NOW are listed with Houston Rape Crisis Coalition as advocates. Evie Whitsett is scheduled as a duty advocate. Three members of the rape task force are listed as advocates with Crisis Helpline. We have some big plans. We sure could use some help. Contact Evie Whitsett, 488-1777 or Nora Mertz, 554-6738.
