RE: 10TH ANNUAL SOUTHERN WOMEN'S MUSIC & COMEDY FESTIVAL POSTPONED UNTIL MAY 26-30, 1994 (MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND) Due to the enormous response to the April 25, 1993 March on Washington do oe held one month prior to when the 10th Annual Southern Women's Music & Comedy Festival), the Festival is being postponed until Memorial Day Weekend of May 1994. Robin Tyler is co-producing the Main Stage Rally at the March. This is a major production commitment which already has taken six months and will occupy most of her time from the middle of March through the end of April. Robin also feels that in these historic times, it is important that as many lesbians and gays as possible attend the March on Washington. Therefore, she is postponing the 10th Annual Southern Festival until 1994. Once again, the Festival IS NOT BEING CANCELED. It shall continue as one of the major festivals in the South, and will celebrate its 10th Anniversary on May 26-30, 1994. Robin would like to encourage as many people as possible to attend the March. With the escalating rightwing attacks, the passage of Amendment 2 in Colorado, tne setback in Tampa, the resistance to gays in the military and the upcoming Lesbian/Gay Civil Rights Bill, it is essential that those of us who can get to Washington, do so, as a show of power as well as pride. IN SICKNESS & HEALTH DOMESTIC PARTNERSHIP New York City Mayor David Dinkins issued an executive order creating a domestic partnership registry and established city-wide regulations that formally recognize unmarried couples. This means that couples who are in close, committed relationships can register their relationships and have their unions legally recognized by bodies affiliated with the city. What the executive order doesn't provide is health care benefits for our domestic partners. Mayor Dinkins has expressed his support for Intro 277, a City Council bill which would grant these benefits. Urge him remove the hurdles to1 extending all benefits to domestic partners and to move forcefully to get the City Council to pass Intro 277. Write The Honorable Mayor David Dinkins, Office of the Mayor, City Hall, New York, NY 10007. And if you and your partner would like to participate in our history-making mass registration planned for March 1, please call the GLAAD office at 212-807-1700 as soon as possible
