Houston Area Women's Center is presenting a film "She's Nobody's Baby," to celebrate Woman Suffrage Day. UT School of Public Health 5702 Bertner, in the Medical Center. Wine and cheese, admission free. Texas NOW Convention—Austin, at the Hilton Inn. Montrose NOW Chapter Potluck at the Women's Center, 3 Chelsea, 5 pm. National Organization for Women convention in Indianapolis, Indiana. Election of National Officers. Montrose NOW Chapter meeting. More details later. Texas NOW CALL TO CONVENTION THE TEXAS NATIONAL ORGANIZATION FOR WOMEN CONVENTION WILL BE HELD AUGUST 27-29 in Austin, at the Austin Hilton Inn, 6000 Middle Fiskville. Road, Austin, Texas 78752. Business will include consideration of proposed bylaws changes (these proposed changes are included in this issue), election of officers for the coming term, and consideration of any proposed resolutions. Workshops on a variety of subjects will provide an opportunity to learn more about NOW, as well as an opportunity to draft policy resolutions to be considered by the main body of Texas NOW, The Convention will include two special events featuring feminist work in the arts and media. A feminist contemporary art exhibit will be on display throughout the convention area. Coordinated by feminist artist, Debra Vanko of Austin, the exhibit will contain several pieces by approximately 15 women. The contributors' works will be in a range of media, all expressing the artist's concern with being a woman. Special entertainment, set for Saturday evening, Aug. 28, will be an original theatrical work with music by the Austin-based actress/director, Mavourneen Dwyer. With Mavourneen's comsummate skill as a director/performer, her commitment to women's issues, and her sense of humor, this promises to be an exciting opening night for a new work.
