Transcript | 398 PICTURESQUE PALESTLNE. IN A CAIRO GARDEN. Where the date-palm, the Cactus opuntia, almond-trees, acacias, and sycamores, the common trees of the country, flourish. During the reign of the Khedive Isma'il about two hundred different kinds of trees, chiefly of East Indian origin, were planted in great numbers in the new parks and gardens of Cairo. |
