Transcript Prior to joining the SWC office in July, 1990, Lavine held the position of assistant ticket manager for the Grand Prix of Dallas. Lavine is a 1989 graduate of the University of Oklahoma. Wendell Shelton Supervisor of Football Officials Wendell Shelton, a Southwest Conference football official from 1977-90, was chosen as SWC Supervisor of Officials in May, 1991. A native of Itasca, Texas and a longtime resident of McKinney, Shelton officiated in the SWC and several post-season games during his on-the- field tenure. Shelton has worked on the officiating crew of two USF&G Sugar Bowl contests (both as referee), the Sunkist Fiesta Bowl, the Sea World Holiday Bowl, the Independence Bowl, the Mirage Bowl in Tokyo, Japan and two Pioneer Bowls in NCAA post-championship play. He has also coached high school athletics, taught or served in school administration in Lubbock, McKinney and Dallas (at Hillcrest, Kimball and Spruce High Schools) before entering private business in the late 1970s. A member of the Southwest Officials Association for over 30 years, Shelton received both his undergraduate and master's degrees at the University of North Texas. Shelton is married to the former Peggy Mayfield and they have two sons - Jay and Jim. Derwin Ware Administrative Assistant Derwin Ware enters his second year on the Southwest Conference staff as an Administrative Assistant. Ware's responsibilities revolve primarily around the league's community outreach Three Point Play Program. He also has responsibilities in championships administration and the Football Hall of Honor. Ware also serves as a Case-Aide for the Texas Key Residential Treatment Facility, where he assists in counseling youths, monitoring family functions and preparing topics and materials for group discussions. He has also served as an administrator at the STEP Foundation, where he assisted in the formation of a summer program for high school freshmen.
