Transcript SCHEDULE OF EVENTS March 28th Tuesday Pre-Tourney Banquet at 7:30 P.M. Oberholtzer Hall — U. of Houston, Morris Frank of The Houston Chronicle — Emcee. March 29th Wednesday First round — 18 holes. March 30th Thursday 2nd round — 18 holes. March 31st Friday 3rd round — 18 holes. April 1st Saturday Golf Clinic by Professional Jack Sell- man of Golf crest C.C. 9:30 A.M. — 4th round 18 holes. Presentation ceremonies and announcement of Miss All- America Golf Sweetheart — Immediately following completion of last round. Team Entries, Players, Coaches (Names of players will be incomplete due to early release of brochure). Alabama University—Coached by Dick Pride. Finished well in the Southern Intercollegiate last year and was 3rd in the SEC. Tom O'Mellia finished well individually in the Southern the past year. This will be Alabama's first year to play in the All-America. Arizona State University—Coached by Fanny Mark- ham. Champions of the Border Conference three of the past four years. Team will be led by Rex Wilsen, former State Amateur Champion of Arizona . . . and numerous other tournaments. Baylor University—Coached by Odis Beck. Coach Beck says this will be one of his strongest teams. One of his players will be Bruce Bangart, the Waco City Champion. Ray Stoker and Adair Ratcliff are due to see plenty of action also. Baylor is always strong. They finished 10th in the All-America last year and 9th in the NCAA in 1960. Florida State University—Coached by Bill Odeneal. This will be Florida State's first year to play in the All- America. They are always very tough. They finished 7th in the Southern last year and have finished very high in the NCAA several times. Two of their players that played well last year include Downing Gray and Dick Dunlap. Florida University—Coached by Conrad Rehling. They won the Florida and Miami intercollegiates in 1960. Two members of their team will include Ail-American Frank Beard and Harry Root who went to the 5th round of the National Amateur in 1960. Frank won both the Miami an«i Florida Intercollegiate tournaments last year. Florida will have one of the finest teams in the country this year. They were second in the SEC last year and fourth in the NCAA in 1960. Hardin-Simmons University-Coached by Bill Scott. They won the Abilene Intercollegiates last year. The team will be led by one of the finest players in the country—Jerry Mobley. Jerry was third in qualifying for the NCAA in 1960 and lost a very close 1 up match to Deane Beman of Maryland the present National Amateur Champion. Gale Shed is due to get out of the service in time to join the team for this season play and should strengthen the team very much.
