Jody Conradt
In women's athletics, Jody Conradt is a household name. She is the Texas women's athletic
director as well as the all-time winningest coach
in women's college basketball history with 654
career victories.
As Contradt begins her 20th year guiding
Texas, she has an impressive list of accomplishments, including an undefeated NCAA Championship season (1985-86), two final four appearances (1986,1987) and the three-time recipient of National Coach of the Year
honors (1980,1984,1986).
During her 19 year tenure at Texas, Conradt has averaged 28 wins a season.
Entering the 1995-96 season, her Texas record stands at 537-116, and includes
20 consecutive trips to post-season play. From 1978 to 1990, Conradt guided her
team to a 183-game win streak against conference opponents.
When it comes to honors, Conradt has achieved them all. Along with her three
National Coach of the Year awards, she has been named Southwest Conference
Coach of theYear four times (1984,1985,1987,1988) In 1987 she received the
Carol Eckman Award, the highest honor given annually by the Women's Basketball Association. In 1986 she was inducted into the Texas Women's Hall of Fame.
Conradt received her bachelor's and master's degrees from Baylor University.
She began her collegiate coaching career at Sam Houston State before moving
to the University of Texas - Arlington. When she joined the University of Texas -
Austin in 1976, she began a Lady Longhom program of national prominence.
