Transcript | win play other teams that win and teams that lose play other teams that lose. Award: The Houston Chronicle's Fred Cobb Trophy is awarded to the winning team. TEAM LOW FOUR BALL This team championship is determined by the best ball of the four team members for 72 holes. The lowest score each member of the team has on a hole is the score that is counted for the team on that particular hole. Teams are rated 1 through 16. Award: A beautiful trophy is awarded to the school that the team represents. TEAM LOW TWO BALL Each team has a number one team (1 and 2 men) and a number 2 team (3 and 4 men). Their low ball as a team over 72 holes determines the championship. Teams are rated 1 through 32. Award: A beautiful trophy is awarded to the school that the winning team represents. INDIVIDUAL Each contestant plays 72 holes and the lowest score in medal play competition is the champion. Award: The Austin-American Statesman's Morris Williams, Jr. Trophy is awarded to the school that the individual represents. The Willie Maguire Trophy is awarded to the individual to keep for himself. The top four finishers will receive a trophy. OVERALL Points are given for the first 10 places in each of the championships listed above. The team that has the highest total points is the Championship Team of the Tournament and is called the Overall Champion. The teams are rated 1 through 16. The following scoring system will be used for the Overall Championship. The points for the 1st ten places are as follows. Team Medal Play — 95, 18, 12, 8, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. Team Match Play — 25, 18, 12, 8, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. Team Low Four Ball — 20, 15, 12, 10, 8, 6, 4, 3, 2, 1. Team Low Two Ball and Individual Medal Play — 18, 15, 12, 10, 8, 6, 4, 3, 2, 1. MARION HISKEY AWARD The Marion Hiskey Trophy is presented annually to the Team Medal Champion by the HOUSTON POST in honor of the late Marion Hiskey. Marion was one of America's outstanding collegiate golfers while at North Texas State from 1952 through 1954. He was killed in an Air Force plane crash in 1956. 6 |
