When planning new buildings, however, it is advisable to arrange for the installa- tion of the closet or recess type bed on account of the fact that they have no casters to mar the floor and carpets. Canopy Arrangement In apartments, homes and hotels that have been built and where tenants are renting and cannot make the proper alterations for the installation of the closet or recess type '*7~Jr Appearance during day Beds lowered for use bed the canopy bed fills a long-felt want. It is similar to the recess bed and can be installed by fastening it to the floor of any room and requires a space but 17" deep. A tubular canopy frame is provided which also fastens to the floor, to which draperies may be hung for concealing the bed. The above cut shows the base or carrying frame of the recess type bed showing how it rests on, and is fastened to the floor. The side arms shown on this frame automatically operate the head end of the bed, thereby doing away with the necessity of fastening any part of the bed to the rear wall, which is important, as there are times when it is difficult to gain a secure fastening without extending bolts through into the next room. This is particularly so in the case of fireproof construction.
